User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0.2) Gecko/20030708 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.0.2) Gecko/20030708 Since my monitor is a CRT and I don't like headaches, I have my colors set to white text on black background. But I want pages printed on my printer with black text on white background. Netscape has this option (in the printer properties dialog) but Mozilla doesn't. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. In Preferences>Appearance>Colors, ask for white text on black background. 2. Open any web page. 3. Click print. Actual Results: Lots of expensive toner used to print the black background. Expected Results: Provide an option to ignore the screen colors, print text in black, on white (inkless) background.
File > Page Setup, and turn off the "Print Background" checkbox. The text color will be automatically adjusted to be visible on the white background.

Sorry for the delayed response to your response to my problem... I tried both setting and clearing the "print background" flag, and it still prints white on black either way. Note: the black is not coming from the web page, it's coming from my preferences -- I want white on black on my *screen*, but I want black on white on my *printer*. I don't seem to be able to achieve this

Ah, I see. You can achieve what you want with a user stylesheet (and an @media print rule), but not via the preferences UI...
