Build Date & Platform Bug Found:
 MacOS commercial seamonkey build 1999-12-16-15-m12 installed on G3/400 OS 8.6
 Win32 commercial seamonkey build 1999-12-16-12-m12 installed on P200 RedHat 6.1
 Linux commercial seamonkey build 1999-12-16-12-m12 installed on P166 Win98

Overview Description:
 I can't post to newsgroup.  I receive an error message when I try to post.  The
error message reads "StringID(hex)=8000fff?"  I clear the error message and check
the newsgroup - no new news article was posted.

Steps to Reproduce:
1) Launch Messenger
2) Open a newsgroup
   I was viewing the newsgroup "mcom.test" on server "news".
3) Start a new message
   It does not matter if you use a html or plain text
4) Address the type to "newsgroup" through the dropdown
5) Type in mcom.test for the newsgroup name.
6) Type in a subject and a short message
7) Click on send.
   You receive an error message.

Actual Results:
 When you try to post, you receive the following error message.
  "StringID(hex)=8000fff?"
 The operation does not succeed.

Expected Results:
 You should be able to post a news article.

Additional Builds and Platforms Tested On:
 This worked earlier this week in the Mac commercial seamonkey build 1999-12-14-
08-m12.

Additional Information:
 It does not matter if you create a new profile and migrate a profile.  I checked
my prefs.js file and could not find any problem.

 I will post my Mac prefs.js files.

I tried to use the newsgroups on www.mozilla.org but the news server is not
responding or I'm unable to connect.

I didn't get this problem by using yesterday's 12-16-12-M12 build.
Actually I close bug#21839 yesterday....same as Laurel.

I believe it a duplicate of bug 21607 since Seth is getting the same error
message as I noted in this bug.

I can correctly post message to public newsgroup like netscape.public.test but I have failure too with mcom.test,
using a Mac debug build from this morning.
I think what appends here is that you try to post a message to a private newsgroup but we (the application) choose
the wrong NNTP server.

Peter, do you have several news servers configured? What's append if you remove all of them but news.mcom.com (or
news)?
