Recently all of my preference settings were reset and all of my bookmarks are
gone.  This also happened at the same time that my homepage was telling me to
upgrade Mozilla because my browser was older than 4 weeks.  I've looked in my
directories, and the bookmarks are not there.  There are no bookmark files in my
deleted items folder either.  All of my settings had to be reset and they are
not setting properly.  I still can't get Mozilla to not fill in data
automatically in a field I've visited before even after I've reset that
preference to stop doing it.

Do you lost it after you got a crash (Mozilla or your system) ?

That would be a dupe of bug 193749
