User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-GB; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-GB; rv:1.4) Gecko/20030624 My original Mozilla 1.2.1 runs Java applets perfectly, however every install since does not run them. I am currently running 1.4 and Java just doesn't work, though it still works on 1.2.1. I have tied un-installing all versions of Mozilla, all Mozilla files I can find the then re-installing Mozilla 1.4, but to no avail. I continue to have 1.2.1 installed just so I can run applets when neccessary. This may be a bug with the installer or the 'first run' process. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Install and run Mozilla 1.2.1 2.Install Mozilla 1.4 3.Run an applet in 1.4, Java just isn't found. Actual Results: Nothing, Java just doesn't start. Expected Results: Start a Java applet.
Reporter could you please add : OS version you are using. JVM version you are using if you know it. give us an URL of a faulty Applet not working ? Could you also test with a recent 1.5-RC2 ?
URL for testing: http://www.qtac.edu.au/Apply_Now/Twelve_To_Tertiary/TTT_Applicant_Declaration.htm Select the 4 check boxes then click "Yes" at the bottom. If Java is working, an applet will start. If not, a page comes up saying Java isn't working. OS: Mac OS X 10.1.5 MRJ 2.2.6 (latest from Apple using software update). I have also seperately downloaded MRJ 2.2.6 to see if installing it makes any difference. I think it impliments the 1.1.2 Java spec. Will test with 1.5 RC2 as soon as I get home (about 6 hours from now - say 0900 UT)
Java works fine in 1.2.1 - here is what is in the package: Contents/MacOS/Plug-ins/MRJPluginCarbon.plugin There is no equivalent in Mozilla 1.3 or later. I have tried going here: http://www.mozilla.org/oji/MRJPluginCarbon.html and installing the plugin as recommended but it seems to do nothing. In the ~/Library/Mozilla/pluginreg.dat file there is an entry: <boot disk>:Library:Internet Plug-Ins:MRJPluginCarbon.plugin Which is where I put the MRJPluginCarbon.plugin file. I have installed Mozilla 1.5rc2, same deal. Either the MRJ plugin should be in the package (a la 1.2.1) or the MRJ plugin in the boot Library should work.
I can confirm that the bug occurs at the reported URL using Mozilla 1.8a4 (8/28/04 build) under MacOSX 10.3.5. I mark the four boxes and click "Yes." The site then shows a list of requirements and which ones I do or don't meet. It indicates that Java is disabled. (Looking in Mozilla's "About Plug-ins" shows that all of the Java Plug-in and Java Plug-in (CFM) features are enabled.) If I try the same site in Internet Explorer 5.2.3, it shows Java is enabled. -- David Lawhon
