imported messages get unread nearly always and deleted messages reappear

Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1) Build Identifier: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla/releases/mozilla1.5rc2/mozilla-win32-1.5rc2-installer-sea.exe I have multiple pop3 accounts with imported messages from Outlook Express (approx. 1500 messages). I put those messages in local folders together with messages downloaded by MailNews. Sometimes when I launch Mailnews, those imported messages are marked as unread. But the strange thing is that also deleted messages reappear. It seems like messages are imported again from outlook express. When this happens, messages downloaded in that session, have no body. They are in the list, but they can't be viewed, and no error message is shown. They are lost. Anyway this happens only with one mail account. It's always the same, and it's the one i use most of the time. With other imported accounts, nothing strange happens. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. Expected Results: Mailnews should keep messages maked as read, and deleted messages should not reappear.

Did you run "compact folders" after you deleted the messages ? The x-mozilla-status header is missing in the imported messages (old bug in the migration and already fixed) and I remember that compacting could help.
Summary: imported messages get unread nearly always and deleted messages reappear → imported messages get unread nearly always and deleted messages reappear

I compacted folders and the problem seems to be gone. Thank you very much. I'm sorry I have posted a non-bug. :-)

There is a bug in the import routine but that's fixed a long time ago. But you should compact folders from time to time because deleted messages will only deleted on the HDD if you do a compact folders. -> wfm

I used to think that import bug had been fixed but I see no evidence of it in the code. Re-opening.
