Under preferences, helper applications, audio/wav, edit, there is a check box
that sets "Always ask me before handling files of this type" even if I uncheck
this box it continues to ask me what to do with the file. I have it set to open
using the default application.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Click on an audio link
2.It asks what to do with the file
3.Uncheck the Always ask me before handling files of this type
4.Click on the Audio link again (.wav type)
Actual Results:
Keeps showing the "what to do with this file" dialog
Expected Results:
It should remember the setting and open and play the .wav file

indeed, but it may be a duplicate of the bug that the dialog shows & saves a
wrong mime type (bug 216294)
marking invalid.

Please try this again. Click on an audio link ->
http://french.about.com/library/media/wavs/jaiunprobleme.wav A dialog opens
saying Opening jaiunprobleme.wav The file "jaiunprobleme.wav is of type
audio/wav (wave sound), Mozilla does not know how to handle this file type.
This file is located at http://french.about.com/library/media/wavs/
What should I do with this file?
I choose Open it with the defualt application(soundrec)
AND then because I don't want it to bug me again I uncheck the "Always show
this dialog before handling files of this type" unfortunately this is not the
case because next time I click on an audio link it brings up the same dialog
box and does not remeber the setting.

Reporter: Have you read comment #5 ?
Please try Mozilla 1.5RC2 or a later build. 1.4 is to old to report bugs and
this should be fixed (you know , read comment #5)

yeah, bug 216294 causes that behaviour. fixed only on trunk (in another bug),
not on the 1.4 branch.
