User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6a) Gecko/20031002 Firebird/0.7+ Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.6a) Gecko/20031002 Firebird/0.7+ in hotmail everytime i go to my account it all comes up fine, but then when i click on the compose tab and in my message box i get <html><DIV align=center><FONT face="Lucida Handwriting, Cursive" color=#ff0033 size=5><STRONG><IMG height=12 src="http://graphics.hotmail.com/emsmile.gif" width=12>Lance <IMG height=12 src="http://graphics.hotmail.com/emsmile.gif" width=12></STRONG></FONT></DIV></html> I know that is the rich text tool inside of hotmail so I tried to deactivate it, when i use explorer it is not diplayed anymore, but now when i go into it with firebird i still get the same thing. Would someone please figure out how to fix it so mozilla will recognize that html so i can still have rich text with my hotmail account. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.go to hotmail 2.then go to compose 3. Actual Results: get the text inside the message box <html><DIV align=center><FONT face="Lucida Handwriting, Cursive" color=#ff0033 size=5><STRONG><IMG height=12 src="http://graphics.hotmail.com/emsmile.gif" width=12>Lance <IMG height=12 src="http://graphics.hotmail.com/emsmile.gif" width=12></STRONG></FONT></DIV></html> Expected Results: Fix it so that mozilla will recognize the html rich text bar that hotmail has.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7b) Gecko/20040302 Firefox/0.8.0+ Related: Firefox does not seem to like the javascript used to open a message from the inbox. Would you like a new bug, or is this reported?

(In reply to comment #3) > wrong resolution - rich text certainly doesn't work for me. Then this bug is Tech Evangelism, this menu option is only available for Internet Explorer. Seems to be a back-end solution, since this is not even in the HTML.

I'm confirming troubles with activating the RTF editor on Firefox. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040614 Firefox/0.9 It's kind of odd though, the other menus work without problems, but clicking on "Tools" when composing a new message does nothing except highlighting the table cell. I'm guessing they don't use the same JavaScript to show up, then? Anyway, this is definitely an evangelism issue, which I unfortunately think will stay unresolved for a while. I suggest changing OS to "All" since this is confirmed on Linux as well, so I'm guessing that this problem hits all and everyone using Firefox.

What you see if you've turned on the rich-text editor in IE then try to reply to a message in FF.

As discussed in bug 298591, a side-effect of the problems with the rich-text editor is to mess up replies. With the editor turned on(e.g. by using IE), the reply text ends up completely garbbled. See attached screen shot.

It is possible that Hotmail uses RichTextBox for their Rich Text Editor. It is known that pre-RTB 3.0 code is incompatible with Fx 1.5 and 2.0. RicherComponents seem to have made a good effort to make their current version (3.1) of the RTB much more compatible with Mozilla products. Hopefully Hotmail will update their code as well.
