This bug is probably related to the bug in Mozilla that disables all keyboard
input to a specific window after viewing a modal dialog from an empty browser
window, using the mozilla mail client while in an empty browser window, or
alt-tabbing between windows.
However, in firebird it affects all windows, not just empty ones.
After viewing certain modal dialogs and other windows that might appear on top
of another window, keyboard input is ignored for that window. The only solution
is to continue your session in a new window. Mouse input is not ignored,
fortunately.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go to any page. This one will do nicely.
2. Type in an invalid URL, such as mcdonalds://rar.mfx in the Location Bar.
3. Read the warning (optional) =P and click OK.
4. Try to type something into a form field, use ctrl-l, or even ctrl-w.
5. Swear a bit if you like.
Actual Results:
Nothing happens.
Expected Results:
Something should have happened.
I'm using the XFT build, and I remember this bug from the Mozilla XFT build,
where it's still not fixed. I can not remember experiencing the bug in the
non-XFT build.

does this happen in an official nightly or release build? (from the UA string,
its obvious you're using CVS)

Yes. It's been happening in both mozilla and Firebird, ever since I switched to
the XFT builds.
> It's been happening in both mozilla and Firebird
then should this be under Browser?

It isn't. It's under Firebird.
sorry, I'm a bit confused.
from comment #2:
>It's been happening in both mozilla and Firebird
If it's happening in both mozilla and firebird then this should be moved to
Browser. (I can see that is is currently under firebird).
Also, in comment #1 Mike asked if you have tried downloading a full build (not
updating using CVS), if you have tried this please post the user agent ID (from
Help-> About Mozilla Firebird).
thanks!

I was unable to reproduce this bug using FireBird 0.7 in windows XP
re: comment #6
This is definitely a linux only bug (only within a certain subset of the linux
builds). Also, firebird 0.7 is no longer the most recent major release. It has
been superceded by FireFox 0.8. :)
to David:
Have you been seeing this bug at all in recent builds? If you could download a
nightly binary and see how it behaves then that would be helpful.

Actually, the bug seems to be gone in 0.8. I'll try and get back to you if it isn't!
Cool. I'm resolving it WORKSFORME. If you find out that it is still coming up
then you can just reopen this bug.
