User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Firebird/0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Firebird/0.7 I think all browsers support non-transparent PNG's, and the stipple in the gradients in the Firebird header images is noticeable and degrades the visual quality of the site. The stippling on the Firebird logo head (the goose head) is most noticeable. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
if by stipple you mean dithered, yes, it is. There are VERY VERY few people with monitors thatdont support a lot of colors. Well. many "home users" may have had some sort of error and windows (being nice) turned it to low color or someting. Or maybe people are browsing mozilla.org in safe mode, who knows. But if so, its better for it to look really **** for 1% of the users and really good for the 99% then to look ok for 100%
I think it's an issue with encoding as GIF, which only supports 256 colors. I suggest PNG (as in the summary).
