User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007

Reproduced with Mozilla 1.5 on RedHat9.

In a page which uses Midas for rich text editing, if you enter a word using IME
and there is a link which has the same word you enter, focus rectangle will be
drawn around the link and the word will be highlighted in light green by the
Find As You Type function.

Actually keyboard focus is not stolen completely and a new line will be inserted
if you hit the return key after the focus rectangle is drawn, but this behaviour
is very confusing.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open http://devedge.netscape.com/viewsource/2003/midas/01/
2.Scroll down to "Example 2". There is a sample editor on blue background.
3.Activate IME (hit Shift+Space in case of Japanese Linux systems) and type
"feedback".
4.Change entered text to alphabet (hit the down arrow twice in case of Japanese
IME on Linux).
5.Hit return key to determine the text.

Actual Results:
The link "Feedback" near the top of the page is focused and the page is scrolled
up to there.

Expected Results:
The text "feedback" is simply entered to the editor like not using IME.

I originally found this problem in Mozilla 1.3.1 on RedHat9 and Windows 2000. I
also tried with the latest nightly build (20031015) both on RedHat9 and Windows
2000 and the problem was still reproducible.

I used the English page to describe the steps to reproduce, but the result is
the same in a Japanese page and if entered text is Japanese.

I'm not sure if it is related, but I have been having the same thing happen to
me a number of times when logging into some sites.
Very annoying because it is capturing my passwords.
It does not always happen, but here are a couple sites:

https://www.gamestop.com/addrform.asp
Yup - same problem here. Can we get this marked as confirmed?

Don't need to leave open for trunk since I have bug 250231 and all these fixes
will land as part of that.
