browser pane continuously bounce (jitter) up and down. , bookmark and history
panes scroll to their top by themselves. mozilla 1.4 did not do these. today i
uninstalled 1.4 and installed 1.5. this bouncing pane problem started
imediately and does it for any and all web pages in addition to the left-hand
bookmark and history panes. it also does this for cached pages displayed while
off line. if one tries to scroll down or drag the scroll bar in bookmarks or
history panes they scroll to their top by themselves. these problems do NOT
happen with the mail client.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.start navigator
2.select any web page or display the bookmarks or history panes
3.
Actual Results:
browser pane content continuously bounces up and down. attempting to scroll
bookmarks or history panes is useless because they scroll to their tops by
themselves.
Expected Results:
no pane motion or jitter. scrolled pane stays put.
it is so annoying that it is not usable. i suspect that it could even trigger a
seizure to those afflected with epilepsy.
i will have to uninstall it and go back to 1.4

Can it be that your Personal Toolbar is empty?
Then it will be a dupe of bug 219643.
Workarounds:
Download a current nightly ;-)
View->Show/Hide->Personal Toolbar to hide it, or put something into it:
Edit->Preferences->Navigator:
Select the buttons you want to see in the toolbars:
[x] Home
or select a folder in Bookmarks Manager, and set it from there with:
View->Set as Personal Toolbar Folder
