With the middle mouse click I associate "open a webpage in a new tab". However
this is not the result when using the same button on the tab menu. then the
current tab window is closed. So my window was closen by mistake rather than a
new tab window opened. I would prefer middle mouse click = new tab, while right
mouse click would be "close tab"

Reproducible: Always

What do you mean by "tab menu"?
If you set middle click to open a new tab, then a middle click on the head of
that tab closes it. That's the intended behaviour, even if it's not documented.

Well, that is inconvinient. Think of one document, on etab situation. You want
to open a new tab for browsing. so you click the middle buttom and both windows
are closed.
