Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.4.1) Gecko/20031008 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031008 I've set up a new account in edit/mail and newsgroup account settings and Mozilla appends the servername to the login when trying to retreive new mail. My login is jamie.taylor.dslw@oneteldsl.net and the server name is pop.oneteldsl.net. When I try to download messages Mozilla sends jamie.taylor.dslw@oneteldsl.net@pop.oneteldsl.net as my user name. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.setup pop3 mail account as shown above 2.try to download e-mail 3. Actual Results: Dialog with message "The PASS command did not succeed. Mail server pop.oneteldsl.net responded: Message server said: Invalid Login" then new dialog asking for the password for user jamie.taylor.dslw@oneteldsl.net@pop.oneteldsl.net. My username is jamie.taylor.dslw@oneteldsl.net not jamie.taylor.dslw@oneteldsl.net@pop.oneteldsl.net Expected Results: Should have sent jamie.taylor.dslw@oneteldsl.net as my user name to mail server pop.oneteldsl.net and downloaded mail. I use Kmail 1.5 on Mandrake Linux 9.1 and Outlook Express 6 on WindowsXP. Both of there E-mail clients can log on to my mail server and download messages fine. This problem happens on both the windows version and the Linux version.
Jamie, some relevant bugs on this matter: bug 216927 - reporter insists mozilla is sending wrong login, then discovers he typed it wrong. bug 217841 - reporter makes the same claim, then discovers the password contained an international character mozilla couldn't accept. *** bug 212937 - reporter makes same claim, and the fix posted is to change the error dialog only. Also all the dupes of these bugs. Especially in the last mentioned bug, you can see that the Error dialog is misleading, because the format of the dialog is not the format of the username that was sent. The Dialog is constructed with the text "Enter your password for %1$s@%2$s" where %1$s is the username. The fix in bug 212937 may have been posted after 1.5 branched from the trunk, so 1.5 may not have this. It would be useful if you could test in a trunk build more recent than 09-20. Also, if you can, please attach the results of a mail protocol log; instructions here: http://mozilla.org/quality/mailnews/mail-troubleshoot.html#imap

Actually, I suspect this is a dup of bug 90507... We have a pref somewhere that changes this behavior if desired.
