User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Firebird/0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Firebird/0.7 In the page at http://www.nationstates.net, when one has multiple logins, after selecting one and submitting on a particular page, the browser crashes. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create an account at http://nationstates.net 2. Login to said account. 3. Repeat steps 1 and 2. 4. Go to the issues page. 5. Select an answer to an issue. 6. Attempt to login to another account on the site. Actual Results: Firebird crashed. Expected Results: Firebird should have taken me to the next page without any problems. Tab Browser Extensions is installed. I do not have the Quality Feedback Agent installed.
After further checking, I've determined steps 4 and 5 are unnecessary.
Hm. Apparently the bug is only experienced when one hits the "Enter" key to submit. Odd.

Worksforme with a self compiled nightly build from 2003-10-19 and the 0.7-release build on WinXP. Please try this again using a fresh profile (see texturizer.net/firebird/faq.html#profilemanager) and without any extensions.
Severity: blocker → critical
Still crashing with clean profile and no extensions. Will try the newest nightly later.
Crash remains, using nightly build for 22nd October 2003 from mozilla.org. Using fresh profile and no extensions. Possibly a hardware problem? One or two of my RAM sticks are second-hand.

After testing this with 0.6.1 and last night's nightly dl of 0.7, I found that 0.6.1 had zero trouble logging in. I can confirm that it crashes most of the times when I'm logging in. I'm using the password manager to keep track of 4 accounts, and it happens with equal frequency on all of the aformentioned accounts. It's not your ram sticks, it's the program.

I've found a workaround that works for me. If you reload the frame (Right Click... This Frame... Reload Frame) it seems to work. I wonder if this has anything to do with forms in frames, does anyone know any sites with forms in frames?

Ok, I've created a "Nation" - The Community of Bugzilla. The login is bugzilla:test. Apparently we're a small, thriving Capitalist paradise as a result of my answers :) (I'm an Economist by training which makes me pro-capitalist but anti-monopolist) The login name of Mozilla is occupied/in use. If someone in this bug has it could they publish the password here please? I don't really want to create yet another nation...

Couldn't figure out who has mozilla, but I did create another nation that you can use. Nation=Bug-Testers Pass= test Also I'll try to make sure that the tech modling gets in touch with you guys.

Ok guys. I haven't actually tried this out yet, however I'm dropping you a line so that you can get in touch with me. I am SalusaSecondus and am an official of NS responsible for general tech stuff. Just let me know what I can do to help. I don't have the actual ability to change the page, so I'm limited in my powers beyond just answering questions. Oh, I've also informed the moderators that both Bugzilla and Bug-Testers are to be left alone unless it's cleared through me. I've also sent them official telegrams containing my contact info. COnfirming with 20031022 Linux GTK2 build Steps to Reproduce: 1. Go to http://www.nationstates.net 2. Login using bugzilla:test, save to Password Manager 3. Logout (in left column of page) 4. Login using Bug-Testers:test, save to Password Manager 5. Do not logout. Bring focus to login widget, use down key to select bugzilla login. Hit Enter twice (once to confirm the selection, second to submit). 6. Watch in horror as Firebird crashes It seems that once you've crashed it, it will crash increasingly frequently. I see nothing 'exciting' with the source code. In fact, the banner frame with the login has only two inconsequential errors not related to the form itself. As best I can tell, this is practically a text-book example of a login form. This only crashes with Firebird; Mozilla Browser is fine. I'm pretty confident it's not the site, though the form-in-frame may be the issue we're having problems with. Was this present with =<0.6.1 builds? Dropping severity since it's (1) a multiple login issue and (2) there's a workaround. Adding SalusaSecondus to the CC: list. Thanks for your support.

I believe it worked fine on 0.6.1. This looks like an issue with the newest Password Manager system.

First bug report for me so hope this is correct procedure. Firebird 0.7 also crashes at http://webac.crdp.ac-montpellier.fr when I click on OK in Password Manager. Here is the Win98SE message (sorry it's in French but you'll get the drift) MOZILLAFIREBIRD a causé une défaillance de page dans le module SECUR32.DLL à 016f:7f8537da. you should be able to re-create this with any old login and password at http://webac.crdp.ac-montpellier.fr/ (private educational W2K IIS server). As I said, I can access with Moz 1.4 so I think the site is OK. Don't think this happened with 0.6.1.

Well, we need working sample logins to test. If FB finds that a particular login doesn't work, it doesn't save this login, so we can't test your bug.

I was referring to Darren Rigby's comments, Salusa. ;-) I already have about 10 of my own nations.

WFM on WinXP with the steps in comment 11. I'm using a debug build I created about two days ago.

WFM, using the official 20031114 build. Anyone else had a try?

I'm still seeing the crash with the steps from comment 11 on a one hour old self-compiled build on WinXP with a fresh profile.

Yeah, it crashed for me again. Worse still, the crash seems to have corrupted my profile; no matter what build I use, I get random crashes using Java or even just random ones when I have Nationstates loaded in a tab. Looks like I'll have to use a new profile. *sighs*

John: Can you check this in a 20040217+ nightly build please? Bug 225889 was recently fixed and I have a sneaking suspicion that this bug and bug 225889 are the same thing. Unfortunately the bugzilla nation at nation states no longer exists and I don't really want to recreate it for nothing. Be sure to test again with a new profile if it does crash with your present profile. Thanks

Both Bugzilla and Bug-Testers have been restored. Passwords are "test" for both (no quotation marks). SalusaSecondus
