Some web pages change frequently, and some servers go down for good.  Having
"Bookmarks" is a great idea for stable, unchanging information (and it also
helps with changing information, such as Slashdot or CNN.com, but most users
expect those pages to change).

But there are times when you've seen something important that you want to save
forever, and not just a pointer to the page.

I realize that there is a "File, Save Page As..." feature, but this requires
deciding where to put the saved page.  A "Snapshots" menu would have identical
functionality as the "Bookmarks" menu does ("Snapshot This Page", "File
Snapshot...", "Snapshot This Group of Tabs...", "Manage Snapshots...") and would
list all of the snapshots the same way the Bookmarks menu is listed.

This feature should be surprisingly simple to create, since it could reuse most
of the code from "Bookmarks" and "File, Save Page As..." -- the only caveat
would be to decide on a place to store the actual snapshots, which could default
to (perhaps) a "Snapshots" directory in the profile's location and be
configurable through About:Config initially, and in the Preferences UI later on.

This is an enhancement request; nothing is broken, just a nicer interface to
"File, Save Page As..." for frequently-used saved pages.

Firebird once has a 'webpanel' feature (in august) which worked more or less
like that. You could drag entire pages in the sidebar for easy switching and
comparison with normal pages. It got pulled out after a few days, because it
wasn't ready yet.

Nice idea.  It's often seemed to me that "File Save As..." 
isn't quite a complete solution.  Not only do you need to 
decide where to put it, but if you think you're going to want 
to know where it came from later, the only thing you can do 
is try and rename the file, manually encoding a lot of the 
information in the URL. 

An alternate feature idea that would get you a lot of this 
functionality:  "File Save As, With Context", that would save 
off the content but give you some linkage back to where it 
came from (maybe a "context.html" file in the same subdirectory 
that a "complete" save uses?).

Some more default locations for "Save As" would help.  If you've 
got five windows open, with twenty tabs each, what are the odds 
that a file save in each of those windows is going to go to the 
same location?
