when i clicked on  the mozilla icon on my desktop today it openend on the mail &
news page but both my accounts were gone.  I checked in the arborescence &
garbage to make sure, i can't find it.  Adress books also gone.  The program
offered to create new account.

it sounds like your prefs.js got crunched, or you ran into the installer bug
where it deletes files in your profile - had you recently installed? If you
search for files called INBOX on your hard drive, do you find any?
