For longer URLS, all you get is <the first few characters of a URL> + "..." +
<the last few characters>. I don't remember this problem with previous
versions, and it's annoying since I have this big empty status bar that could
easily fit the URL.

Instead, I think Mozilla should only cut out the middle part of URL's when the
URL is too long to fit on the status bar (and that would be an extremely long
URL for me).

When I took this screenshot, my mouse was over the "Last" hyperlink in the bug
list navigation links at the top of any Bugzilla bug report page.
It happens really frequently.
All you need to do is let the user select a maximum status bar URL length
(easy), or detect it automatically (more difficult). It worked fine before.
Cheers,
Chris

I'm sorry ... I just noticed that I have the same problem with Find As You Type
or whatever it's called, so I'm assuming this applies to ALL status bar text now.
By the way, the only extensions I have installed are:
Linky
AdBlock
PrefBar
Home Button
Gray Modern theme
none of which should be causing the status bar to do that.
Summary: status bar URL is truncated / compressed unnecessarily → status bar text (including URL) is truncated / compressed unnecessarily

I really apologize for all these posts.
The bug has gone away for me now!
Honestly, the only change I remember making to my system was to uninstall Adobe
Acrobat Reader 6.0 Full and replace it with Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0 Basic.
So ... um ... something is really strange here. Can somebody else confirm that
Adobe 6.0 Full vs. Adobe 6.0 Basic is the problem?

:) if it works, please resolve this bug as INVALID (or perhaps WFM ?).

Well, I have that attached screenshot showing that at some point it actually
didn't work for me ... so you really want to just forget about it and resolve it?
Or is it better leave the bug open in case somebody else has this problem?

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.
