I have been experiencing this for quite some time now. Since 1.2 or 1.3, maybe
earlier.
After browsing for some time (sometimes longer, sometimes not), Mozilla just
hangs. Freezes. Everything else seems to be in order, though - the system seems
to be just fine - but Mozilla won't respont to clicks, menus or anything. 100%
of the times I got this the memory listed in the mozilla.exe process in task
manager is above 60MB or so. Only solution is to kill the process and start over.
Sometimes mozilla even closes by clickin on the "close window" button - but the
process stays there forever if not terminated.
I don't use the Quick Launch, btw.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. start Mozilla
2. visit lots of pages, specially those with pictures - it will happen faster if
you go opening new ones in tabs while leaving the others open
Actual Results:
Mozilla hangs - stops responding.
sometimes it still runs for some time - but stops rendering. You can still
interact, but nothing is drawn unless off-screen: for example, on a long,
scrolled page, you will see only what was not on-screen. And only if you manage
to scroll up or down.
Expected Results:
Just run without the mentioned glitch.
since there is no actual crash, I can't specify IDs or messages.

Alright, here is the thing: I'm changing the subject now. All conditions stays
the same, but let's deal with the "stops rendering" issue for now - since I
couldn't make it crash.
Mozilla just stopped rendering - memory usage is 140MB.
how to reproduce:
1 - open mozilla
2 - open each of these links on its own tab:
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?s=d525ea4b5ec291b445d370e8f5db264e&threadid=8780
http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?s=d525ea4b5ec291b445d370e8f5db264e&threadid=9562
3 - let them sit for a while to load all images. If still not enough, go ahead
and open the next pages on each link - but on new tabs. The goal is to have
several things open at the same time.
When memory usage is high enough, you should be able to switch between tabs -
but see no change at all. if you focus another window on top of Mozilla and
back, you will see that Mozilla is not rendered - but still works. Switching
between tabs has the same effect: you can only see things if you scroll up or
down on each page.
hope this makes it clearer.
Summary: Mozilla hangs (or loops infinitely) whenever memory exceeds 60MB or so → Mozilla stops rendering whenever I open several tabs with a few images each

well the browser in fact slows down on this pages but i switch betwen tabs and
it renders ok. the behavior i can see here is that "new tab" context menus on
tabs won't work at all.

Leonardo, are you still seeing this problem with Mozilla slowing down extremely,
even in a recent build such as 1.7a? I was able to load the pages you mentioned
and Mozilla only used about 22 megabytes of RAM. Also, it is possible that this
is bug 98835.
Resolving WFM since there has been no confirmation, and this is likely a dupe or
symptom of one of the various bugs on Mozilla hogging resoueces anyway.
Leonardo, if you are still seeing this in a recent Mozilla build (such as the
upcoming 1.7 release) please feel free to reopen.
