You can't change to "Modern". Mozilla has a Modern theme, Firebird just have the
name left in the themes dialog. The default theme is "Mozilla Firebird". Try to
change to that one.
The Walnut theme seems to be missing the little arrow next to the back and
forward buttons. But that's a decission of the theme author and not a Firebird
bug. -> INVALID.
By the way, a right-click on the back and forward buttons does the same as
left-clicking on the little arrow. And please file a separate bug for each issue
next time.
