Every time I try to access the above page (ESR's The Art of Unix Programming,
milestone 12 for Solaris dumps core and exits.
Severity: normal → critical
HTML-Tidy finds the code on this page to be clean, except for warning about
Missing SUMMARY attributes on the tables at the top and bottom of the page
- othewise this looks like quite ordinary HTML 3.2 - at least today (there may
have been HTML coding problems earlier).

Could not reproduce with: 2000-01-01-08-M13 nightly binary on Windows NT 4.0sp3.

imk@cs.tut.fi, could you please try to gather some crash data - a stack trace,
debugger output, whatever, and quote it or attach it to this bug report? That
would very much help.

Also, are you sure that it was the main TAOUP page and not the "Contents"
page where you got the crash? There is a malformed URL for the "Preface"
link on that page but not on the main page (OTOH, it may have gotten fixed on
the main page only in the meantime). In any case, if you don't get the crash
again on the main page, please try the "Contents" page to see if this is the
problem.

Bug 22894 "Partial URLs with scheme (e.g., http:page.html) do not load" has
been filed for the problem Mozilla has parsing the malformed URL on the
"Contents" page. The additional issue with the Session History, referred to
in the last paragraph (beginning with "QA:") may be related to the bug causing
the crash reported here.
It looks like the problem was that I am running Communicator at the same time as
I am running Mozilla. When run alone, Mozilla can access the TAOUP pages just
fine without crashing, but when Communicator is running at the same time,
Mozilla crashes either when trying to go to TAOUP (I go through lwn.net 1999
Linux Timeline) or on clicking "Chapter 1" there.
I am unable to reproduce this using an M12 Build on Solaris 2.6 with or without
NN 4.5 open at the same time. imk@cs.tut.fi, if you are still seeing this bug,
can you provide some additional information (Hardware, Solaris version, etc.)so
we can attempt to duplicate it?

If not, please resolve this bug as INVALID or WORKSFORME.
