User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4.1) Gecko/20031008
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.4.1) Gecko/20031008
I imported a large amount of mail from Outlook Express using Windows 98 and
Mozilla 5.0 on a different computer. All of the mails were listed as read in
Outlook Express, but Mozilla listed them all as unread, so I marked them as
read. Then I copied the files in the folder corresponding to the UNIX
~/.mozilla/default/[random_name]/Mail from the Windows computer to my Linux
system. I added a new e-mail account in Mozilla 1.4.1, and replaced all the
files created by Mozilla in the e-mail directory by those that I had copied from
the Windows system. When I open Mozilla, the messages are sometimes, but not
always, listed as unread, even if they were all listed as read last time I
closed Mozilla. I have placed the mails in different folders, and when this bug
occurs, all mails in some of the folders, but not always all and not always the
same, are listed as unread. Some of the mails are still in the original
folders, but I've moved most of the mails. I've never seen this happen to the
mails in the original folders. I usually don't use Windows and only used it
once to import these OE mails, so I don't know if the same thing would also have
happened if I had kept everything in Mozilla for Windows.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
See above.
Actual Results:
See above.
Expected Results:
Kept listing the messages as read.

Did you run "compact folders"
You get this everytime you loose your folder index file because of a missing
x-mozilla-status header and that should be fixed with compact folders
(and this is a dupe of another bug which I can't find at the moment)

I have run "Compact Folder" many times. It does not add the necessary Mozilla
header, and the problem is not solved.

Can you try it again with 1.5 (you need only to compact the folders with it)

this won't fix already imported mail, obviously, but it should fix newly
imported mail

will this also fix bug 160027 ?

No, that's an additional problem. This fix makes it possible, however, to also
fix that problem.
