Opening files (html/xml) with more then one '.' in filename will fail

Details
In M11 you could open a local file that had more then one '.' in its name. (eg testing.standard_css.xml). However, If you try to do the same thing in M12, mozilla will complain that it doesn't know how to handle the 'Unknown' application. I verified that this was the problem by removing the first '.' (eg testing_standard_css.xml) and it loaded without any problems.
