User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6a) Gecko/20031031 Firebird/0.7+
Build Identifier: Mozilla Thunderbird 0.4a (20031026)
Even when no message is currently displayed, changing the character coding
re-displays the last-viewed message's text in the preview pane. This happens to
me with an empty Inbox. I'll attach a screenshot. I'm using the 3-pane display
view where the folder list goes all the way down the left side of the app, the
folder's contents are displayed in the uppermost pane, and the preview pane is
below the folder contents pane.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Switch to a folder that has messages.
2. Click a message so it displays in the preview pane.
3. Switch to a folder that has no messages.
4. Change the character encoding between Western (ISO-8859-1) and Arabic
(IBM-864) with the menu option View->Character Coding.
Actual Results:
The last message I looked at in the folder with messages (Step 2 in the Steps to
Reproduce) re-displays in the preview pane.
Expected Results:
No visible changes to the GUI.
I'm using default everything, pretty much. I just installed thunderbird.

Character Coding is now disabled, if I am in a folder with no messages. Should we close this?
