RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 169025

People

(Reporter: mozilla, Assigned: sspitzer)

Details

User-Agent: lynx 5.5 (vision impaired version)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20030916

This could be two separate bugs, but the fix could be 1 fix. When looking
at a folder "Sent-030101-030630" -- an archive of Sent files for the "Sent"
folder, the message list displays the "From" text field. Instead, the "To"
field needs to be sent.

Also, I have several accounts, same microsoft@mydomain, redhat@mydomain,
redlinux@mydomain. All have "name" "L. Walsh" associated with them.
Displaying "the "From" value doesn't tell me which account it was from it
displays "L. Walsh" for each of them. (Like duh, I know it was me that sent
it, what account did I use?)

Note in Outlook, From and Account are separate values that can be displayed as
field choices.

But the most immediately irritating problem is the lack of "To:"
in "Sent/Record" archive folders.

The above issues are part of a larger problem -- each folder should have it's
own field list and field order. Changing it in one folder shouldn't change it
for all.

Oddly enough, the sorting order does seem to be kept on a per-folder basis.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create new folder under a folder named 'archive' called "sent-old"
2. copy some number of old "sent" items to "sent-old"
3. display "sent-old"

Actual Results:
Could no longer see who message was sent to on the messages header panel.
(upper right panel)

Expected Results:
allow per-folder settings for columns displayed and their order.

This makes mozilla unusable to view sent/record archives (I have going back
a few -several years)
In the 1.6 versions we now have separate Recipient and Sender columns in thread
pane. That means you can show the Recipient not only in and under the Sent
folder but also in a archive folder tree. And you can also display the Recipient
in your Inbox.

That should help you at least a bit. Just have a look at the latest trunk
nightly or the 1.6a release.
