User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 When I surf to the url above and mozilla tried to load quick time mozilla hangs and needs to be killed using the task manager. This is not reproducible 100% of the time. When I go to the site after just opening the browser it works fine. But if I've been surfing for 20 minutes and then visit the site mozilla hangs when quicktime tries to load. The quicktime I have is not up to date, I know this because when quicktime loads successfully it asks me to check for updates. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. Start Mozilla 1.5 make sure you have quick time plugin installed and it's not up to date. 2. Surf around the net try and load some big sites, give mozilla some hard work surfing wise. 3. Then visit http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/Star/6097/traci.htm Actual Results: Mozilla hangs and needs to be killed using the task manager Expected Results: Mozilla should load quicktime. I belive I have: QuickTime Plug-in 6.3 I check the about plugins page.

Summary: crashed when mozilla tried to load quicktime → hang when mozilla tried to load quicktime
I went to that page, and also experienced Mozilla hanging. After that, I loaded the page in IE6 and was informed I needed to download some QuickTime upgrades. I did, and now the page will load fine in Mozilla. I'm not sure whether this is a problem in QuickTime or Mozilla. Clearly something is going wrong, since in Mozilla I was never prompted to download updates.
This seems to happen to me when Quicktime decides to suggest an update or an additional download, which is most annoying in and of itself. It is very easy for this window to be lost in the background when one clicks on the browser, and until quicktime gets a response, all Firefox processes hang. Thanks, Apple! Firefox seems a tad flaky even after appeasing Quicktime. For example, tabs sometimes refuse to open with CTRL-T.
