User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031117 Firebird/0.7+ Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031117 Firebird/0.7+ When I go to a web page with the Java plug in, Mozilla Firebird prompts me to download the plugin. So I press Ok, then I click on "Java 2 for Linux download" and then it downloads. When it's finished, the dialog box says: "installing" and then after a few seconds it says "sucess". But when I restart the browser and visit the page again, it prompts me to download the plugin again! And I tried downloading again but the same thing happened. This worked before but now it doesn't. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Go to any web page with the Java plug in. 2.Press "OK" when it prompts you to download it. 3.Download it. (Press the Java for Linux button or something like that) Actual Results: It says "sucess". But actually, when I restart the browser, it prompts me to download it again. Expected Results: It should have displayed the plugin instead of asking me to download it. Using Linux. Don't know if this is platform-specific.

There are occasional issues with Java and Linux. I don't know if this will help, but could you please check out: http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/faqs/java.html Follow the instructions there to manually install the plugin (must be 1.4.2). Please let us know if this works :)
I've installed Java manually and it is working. And what should the bug be resolved as (WorksForMe, Invalid, etc.)?
