I have IMAP folders, stored in MH format.
I manipulate these via emacs runnig over ssh primarily, but am evaluating
switching. In the process using local MH and IMAP simultaneously, Thunderbird
became convinced that it was up-to-date, but was not. I would like a re-scan
folder now function.
I'm suprized I found neither functionality or enhancement request (153300
perhaps: I don't know whether news and mail share a backend) of this nature, so
I may be missing something major.
Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce
Steps to Reproduce:
I'm unable (too tired!) to reproduce the lack of agreement between server and
client. What I think happened was that
1: I run MH's inc to grab mail from spool into folder on server, then dowloading
the new message via IMAP.
2: on server, rmm the last message. now inc again: the message number is recycled.
3: Thunderbird sees no need to re-read the old message, as it already has a
header for that message number. It could be that IMAP is also to blame, as it
was not told about the message number switcharoo. MH doesn't speak to IMAP.
Actual Results:
out of sync. Thunderbird refuses to show me new message, instead shows me
now-deleted message.
Expected Results:
Offer me to resync folder with IMAP server.

I have a similar problem where I would like TB to resyncronise the folders. I
run TB on my home computer and at work. When I move mail in TB at home they are
still there at work and the other way around. At home I use the offline
extension as a workaround to force it to resyncronise.

If that's the real problem, that's strictly a server problem...
You can delete your .msf file to force us to redownload headers. there are
requests to add a button to the folder properties dialog to do that for you...

I'm leaning towards resolving this as WFM with the latest autosync code that's already in the TB betas. Thoughts?

Nothing to do with autosync. I agree with david it could be a server issue. I would close this incomplete due to the bug age.
Reporters if you disagree please reopen. Adn we'll ask for imap logs and maybe server logs.
