This is confusing and should be unified to command-m. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Expected Results: use command-m in all cases.
Command-m should minimize windows on osx, http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137523. http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=207260 has the discussion about changing to command-shift-m.
