I have assigned Labels to the mail in my Inbox on two separate occasions, and
for the second time, those Labels have disappeared.  Labels that are in other
folders (e.g. Local Store) are unaffected.  Problem seems to happen after an
abnormal program end; in this case meaning that I have closed all Mozilla
windows but there is still a Mozilla.exe process running in Task Manager after
12 hours that I subsequently used "End Process" on.  The next load of Mozilla,
the Labels are gone.

Steps to Reproduce:
I will try to reproduce through experimentation, but it seems to be flukish. 
Not every abnormal program end results in them being cleared.  I also can't be
sure that they were still there before the program process was orphaned.




Is is possible that the Labels are stored in a temporary capacity (like a cache
of some sort) that in an error condition, that cache is rebuilt and the
information in it lost?  Just taking a shot in the dark . . . .

A little testing results: I have a program currently installed that is causing
Mozilla to orphan the process when I close all windows, however, this apparently
isn't what is causing the Labels to be cleared.  I have 3 Labels currently
re-set in my Inbox and none of my tests caused them to disappear, whether I got
the Process to hang or not.  

So I will continue using/testing and report my results when I have them.  At
this point I am hoping for two things: 1) Someone else has noticed this and has
better information on when/how it happens.  2) There is a fundamental "flaw" in
how Labels are being stored that leaves them somehow vulnerable to a possible
"crash/rebuild" situation and that "flaw" can be fixed (with apologies to the
people who built the system the way that it is now).

I am positive that I did not accidentally clear these Labels (I suppose a
"Select All" and a spastic mouse click could have done it, but even then I think
I would have noticed it), and I have the majority of my mail Labeled (out of 31
messages currently in my Inbox, all but 3 or 4 were Labeled) so it is a drastic
and noticable change.

I close down and reopen Mozilla on a daily basis.  In some cases, the Labels
that were cleared were set months ago.

You get this if the index file is broken and Mozilla recreates it from scratch.
