User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2) Gecko/20021129 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2) Gecko/20021129 As I noticed long time ago, Mozilla use the same way for storing mail as the traditional UNIX's way (/var/mail/${USER}). I would apreciate to have either: - In Local Folders's properties page a way to bind an Inbox folder to some external file. - In an individual folder's properties page way to bind it to some external file. That way one could bind his Inbox folder to his local inbox file. In UNIX the filename field should be defaulted to ${MAIL} I suggest a checkbox with a text field and browse button for UI. The first time, the filename should also be checked for consistency (unless it's dont at every access) to prevent newbies from doing disasters (like binding it to an m$ outlook file!). I reported this bug in MailNews since I do not know how Thunderbird is done and if it applies... Please move or dup it if it's relevant (I guess not much improvement will be done in MailNews now anyway as it's going to be replaced...). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
>User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.2) Gecko/20021129 This bug is invalid. Bugs should only be submitted using a current build and a build from one year ago it isn't anything new at all. Please download a current build as it already has the option to select where to store the local folders (at least in windows), and if you're unsure about anything in Thunderbird then download it and test it.

This is not a bug, it's a FEATURE REQUEST. And because I reported it on an old build DOESN'T MEAN I DIDN'T TESTED IT ON A NEW ONE. This is _NOT_ a feature of Mozilla v1.6b, IS THIS TOO OLD?

>DOESN'T MEAN I DIDN'T TESTED IT ON A NEW ONE. It's hard to guess it if you don't say it in your bug report and the only data that it's shown it's an old build. And as I said the properties of the Local Folders "account" let you specify the local directory to store the data. I think that it shouldn't be too hard to use that data to put the data wherever you want.
It's not really about redirecting the data somewhere else... I don't have write access to /var/mail. This feature request imply two things: 1. An option to select an external file *outside* the local directory 2. Assume that in such case we're not alone accessing this file.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter.
