The 1.6 beta has severe problems with some SSL hosts (1.5 and earlier are okay).
I am intentionally reposting this bug from 225159 which is well over month old
and still not even confirmed, perhaps because its severity was rated too low or
becauee it was placed in the the wrong sub-category.

If this bug makes it into the release of 1.6, it will have a major usability
problem for some secure sites.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Please see bug 225159. Note that this problem is exhibited even BEFORE
visting a site with a certifcate problem (unlike the bug states).
