I had other non-comcast accounts active at the time. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create an account. 2. Create another account. 3. Delete that account. Actual Results: The inbox messages were deleted. It was removed from the list/ Expected Results: Simply removed it from the list.
I have possibly a slightly different use case that is affected by this behavior. I had several accounts created. On one of them, my account was deleted by the administrator (left the firm). Unfortunately, this triggered a modal dialog everytime I did "Check All Mail." So I removed the account, expecting the folders (Inbox, Sent, etc.) to remain. Oops! There should be a way to preserve mail from defunct accounts, while maintaining the visual separation provided by dividing into multiple accounts. As an aside, if there's any way to get my mailbox back I'd love to know. I love Thunderbird. Great work!
=> incomplete (age + they seem to be gone) in some (many?) cases you can get your inbox back after deleting an account. check some recently closed bugs and appropriate article on http://kb.mozillazine.org/
