User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031208 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; PPC Mac OS X Mach-O; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031208 On MacOS X 10.1.5 downloads saved outside the home folder (directory) fail with a mysterious error message. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. set preferences to ask you what to do with a downloaded file 2. click on a link to download a file 3. the "Mozilla does not know how to handle a file of this type" dialog appears. Select "Save it to disk" and click "okay" 4. another dialog appears. Select some target folder outside the home folder, and click okay Actual Results: the file is downloaded, and then after it is complete, an error dialog box appears which says: File "suchnsuch" could not be saved, because an unknown error occurred. Sorry about that. Expected Results: downloaded and saved the file in the requested place This is on MacOS 10.1.5. While this bug isn't as bad as the "lose all your bookmarks" bug, like that bug it's been around for months without getting fixed, and is giving Mozilla a bad reputation on this platform. Granted most MacOS users are now using 10.2 or 10.3, but I'm sure there are plenty still running 10.1. Note that there appear to be some related bugs, having to do with being unable to find the helper application, but this bug occurs when specifically saving the file.
