User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007

We have had problems with different formats of JPEG imag. JFIF seems to be the
only type that works, either inline or as attachment

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Attach EXIF format JPEG
2. Attach JFIF format JPEG

Actual Results:
Only 2nd image (JFIF) will display, other will be reported as "containing errors"

Expected Results:
Displayed both images..

If i save the file to disk and open in gimp, re-save the file without alteration
I can view the images.. but this saves as JFIF
wfm cvs trunk from today

Reporter: Is this still a problem with a current Mozilla build?
I'm not the reporter, but I'm experiencing similar troubles with certain JPEGs.
For example, Mozilla indicates that the graphic
http://www.coop99.at/darwins-nightmare/darwin/press/darwin_03.jpg contains
errors; however, the Gimp can open it just fine. Running strings on the file
reveals the following lines at the top, so maybe it has something to do with the
EXIF issues reported here.

Exif

There is also a lot of embedded XML later on in the file.

I am running Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414.
I should also clarify that this behaviour was observed in the Mozilla browser,
not the mail client. If my problem is the same as the OP's, then the component
field of this bug should be changed to something more general.
This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".

This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.

While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.

If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

Bug still occurs with Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7.12)
Gecko/20050919.
I see something silimar with a different JPEG image which does not contain EXIF information. Attaching.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5
Confirmed on Windows as well by a friend
This appears to be the same problem as bug 338462, filed (more appropriately) under Core: ImageLib.
I found the older bug for this.
