Details

Download an extension to your hard drive. Double click it. I got the same sort of error as bug 176096 (FB should not be default html editor). If this is confirmed, then attachment 116674 [details] [diff] [review] can probably be modified for this.
Ok, I have no idea how that computer even got the file association for XPI in the first place. Clicking Set Default Browser doesn't seem to take this association.
