I use a fixed-width font for the composer.

If an incoming plain-text mail contains this (see expected results)
It is reformatted like this in the preview pane (see actual results)

Leading white space is also eaten in replies and forwards.

This behavior is annoying because it prevents safe
handing of patches and source code.

1.send yourself a message with preformatted text
2.compare the result with the original

Appears to be fixed in Thunderbird 1.0.6.

We don't know what fixed this worksforme
