This is more of a wish than a bug report. I find it
extremely annoying that Mozilla downloads files in a
temporary location and copies them in the selected
destination only after the download has been completed.

Apparently, this feature can't be disabled or configured.

Every other browser out there either creates the file
immediately or uses a .part extension to mark unfinished files.

It's extremely annoying when you have limited space in your
$HOME and you're trying to download huge files.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.
I'm also annoyed with this problem. Sometimes the files I download are some
1-2GB in size and after the download is finished, it takes a _lot_ of
unnecessary disk space and system resources to duplicate the file.
What I find extremely annoying is people can't search for dupes.
Bug 129923 is the tracking bug.
Possible dupe of Bug 69938
This is because the meta-bug you've mentioned can't
easily be found combining common search keywords
that most users will come up with, such as "file",
"download" or "directory".

Anyway, I'm glad to see that so many people have
been complaining about it. Now I see that there
actually were good intentions behind this apparently
useless behavior.

I hope there will be an option to disable it in a
future release.
