Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 I manage a few dozen routers, Access Points, and similar apparatus. All of these use passwords. And.. I like to use the password manager to support them. Many access points (such as Cisco) have a lot of different pages that the user can enter and if you have not been to the unit recently, you can be asked for a password on any page you might enter if you have not been there recently. As a result, it is my practice to ALWAYS enter the password and click "save". Unfortunately, (not all the time but frequently) I return to a router page whre I am SURE I previously saved the password and it asks me for the password again. Maybe it is the result of some detail of the link name being different, I cannot be sure. What it seems like would work better in this case would be an option to "USE THIS PASSWORD FOR ALL REQUESTS FOR THIS DOMAIN?" This way, anytime anything in the (say) http://192.165.155.33/*/*/* domain asked for a password it would get the same one from the cache. Reproducible: Sometimes Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.

I also have been having this same issue. I am running on WinXP Home Edition and for a specific site that requests a password, Mozilla seems to foget it. This is how I've managed to duplicate the effect: Running Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.5) Gecko/20041217 1.) I enter the site that requests the password (the site uses Neomail) 2.) I allow Mozilla to remember the password 3.) I log out of my webmail 4.) I log into another webmail account not associated with the previous and allow Mozilla to automatically enter my user name and password 5.) I log out of that account 6.) I proceed to the first email account mentioned 7.) Mozilla has "flushed" my user name and password from the password manager and the site asks me for a user name and password. I can reproduce this each time. If need be, I am willing to set up an account on both servers for an ***OFFICIAL*** Mozilla developer to try out.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01". This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code. While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug (given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more reproduction information if you have it. If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved. Thank you for your help in this matter. It appears that anytime an http server asks for http basic auth AGAIN, after it has already asked for and received authentication once, this causes the password manger to forget the user name and password that it had previously stored for that server. I can reproduce this 100% at will. I have resorted to changing the permissions on my password file to read-only. That keeps password manager from deleteing it from the file, but does not prevent password manager from forgetting the passwords in the process. So each time password manager forgets my password, I just have to restart the browser, and it remembers them again. :)
