The browser directs mo to apage that offers three plugin choices.  The LINUX
choice does nothing, on MY browser

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Try to looad http:///www/herkes.org/jchess
2.Redirect to plugin site
3.attempt to download plugin
4 I have a working jre1.4.1 on my machine

Actual Results:  
nothing

Expected Results:  
load the chess board

I'm not so sure here - it seems the reporter actually got the Java plugin
installed, but it didn't work.

It is invalid, however. Since Mozilla requires 1.4.2, not 1.4.1.
