Occasionally, they will receive the following pop up error message: Alert: Unable to write the email to the mailbox. Make sure the file system allows you write privileges, and you have enough disk space to copy the mailbox. The users will then the "okay" button and Thunderbird will proceed to attempt to download the same eMail over and over. I get called when the user gets about 10 copies of the same message in their inbox and can not receive new messages. The following is how I temporarily correct his problem. I am writing it to be of assistance to the developers. In no way am I suggestion my work around as a remedy: This problem can be temporarily corrected by: 1) exiting Thunderbird 2) log into the mail server by means other than Thunderbird and remove the first eMail on the top of the stack. My ISP has a web based eMail tool that I use. I can also have one of my ISP's admin use "vi" and edit out the top message on the stack. (This eMail is typically a stupid, stinking piece of junk mail. I also suspect it contains a virus but can not confirm this. Swen is rampant out in these parts.) 3) remove all temp files from the users system "Temp" directory. Or, all those temp files with out file locks on them. (Only an issue if you have not exited Thunderbird.) 4) restart Thunderbird, download the customer's remaining eMail. It should now be fixed, for a while. If you only execute step three above, the problem will not stop. You must execute step two first. Hi All, I am no longer able to reproduce this under Thunderbird 0.6 general release and Panda Platinum Internet Security 8.03.081. I have not retest it under Titanium 2004. Panda also told me they made the same test and were also unable to reproduce under 8.03.081. The problem seems to be the virus notificaton pop up windows from Panda stopping the POP3 download until the user presses "close". Panda told me the are expecting to change this behaviour soon.
