(Keywords: hang)
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031208
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Win 9x 4.90; en-US; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031208
This happens mostly when I'm just in the middle of writing an email,
so the message composer window is open.
Then I try to drag'n drop a file (maybe a jpeg for the email I'm currently
writing) into the message composer window, or into the browser window to get a
preview.
If I do this, Mozilla hangs. No crash message, I have to kick it out with the
Taskmanager.
Sometimes, it seems that Mozilla already hangs when the image I'm trying to drag
even touches the Mozilla-Window, with the left mouse button still pressed.
Now something from the Twilight Zone:
If I restart Mozilla afterwards, in the same Windows session, this bug does not
appear again. It only happens when Mozilla is started for the first time after
booting Windows.
This bug has been bothering me since Mozilla 1.4.x and is still active.
It's really nasty, because it always happens when I'm writing mails, so very
often, I forget about the bug and lose all the text I've written so far.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Boot Windows ME
2. Open the message-composer (ctrl-m)
3. Drag an image from the desktop into the message-composer
Actual Results:
Mozilla hangs.
Expected Results:
Inserting the dragged image into the email.

this has recently been reworked in bug 83803, can you try again using latest
nightly build ?

Maybe I'll do this.
But the bug you mentioned was about dragging things FROM the attachment TO the
desktop.
In my case it doesn't work the other way round:
I want to drag FROM the desktop TO the message window.
It even works once Mozilla has crashed before, but not after a fresh start.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a

you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
