Details
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Firebird/0.7 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.5) Gecko/20031007 Firebird/0.7 All open browser instances freeze permanently when the internet connection is slow and overloaded with many loading pages in firebird and downloads (in other programs). Looks like one of the loading pages freezes half-loaded, and then all other browser instances freeze and this is permanent, even if the connection is "unloaded", the browsers are still frozen. If I kill the instance that I think has caused the problem, all instances close. I guess this has to do with socket networking code blocking infinitely on socket I/O. This happens rarely, but is very annoying. Reproducible: Didn't try Steps to Reproduce: 1.Modem connection - 33.6 kbps 2.Open many pages simultaneously, grouped in several instances of the browser app. Pages - with some graphics, i.e. relatively heavy to load 3.Open some page on a slow server Expected Results: Would be good if the separate browser instances were more independent, so that in case one crashes for some reason the others will continue to work. I guess this is a side effect of the mozilla app architecture, possibly optimization for faster load times of additional instances once the core is loaded. But still I believe some work on this subject could be done for greater stability.

This could be a DNS lookup thing as in bug 188332 or bug 235853.

I get this error too in a specific heavy loaded network. (100+ Computers) at school. This only happens there. I think it happens, while the name resolution. If there is an address, which doesnt exist, like "www.goo" (which happens often because I type so fast) then all instances freeze, after a minute or so the Error of the SQUID Proxy is shown, but all instances are frozen another minute or so...

Richard, what you're describing sounds like bug 235853. James, are you using a proxy?

(In reply to comment #3) > Richard, what you're describing sounds like bug 235853. > > James, are you using a proxy? No, I'm not using a proxy... The situation I described occurs during page loading, not during lookup, although I remember occasions when all browser instances freez during lookup as well, but this is only until the lookup operation times out

Is this still here in newer builds of Mozilla Firefox?
Firefox will sometimes freeze is the middle of loading a page or even when going to main pages of sites, such as google.
