User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; Galeon) Gecko/20031202 Galeon/1.3.11a Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; Galeon) Gecko/20031202 Galeon/1.3.11a Using Mozilla 1.5, Galeon 1.3.11a, or Firebird 0.7 on Linux, attempting to pay a credit card bill online results in an error stating "We have detected that your browser is an older version of Netscape. You must upgrade to Netscape Navigator 6.2 or later." It's possible to log in and check balances, but they won't allow bill payments. Oddly, I had no problem until this month; I assume they must have changed something in their browser detection setup. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Log in to pay an MBNA credit card at www.ibsnetaccess.com 2. Select "Pay Online" Actual Results: The website refused to allow me to pay my bill and insisted I download a "newer" version of Netscape. Expected Results: The website should have let me choose an amount and pay the bill.

I can confirm this. The exact same thing happens to me. I tried emailing webmaster@mbna.com and webmaster@mbnanetaccess.com but the mail bounces with the autmated message that MBNA will not communicate with its customer through email. I call the listed Customer service number and after being re-routed several times I talked with the Tect support. The fix that they gave to me is to change my user agent string and add "Netscape7.0" to it. I insisted that the problem is in their browser detection system and we should not need to modify the user-agent. The tech support said that she did not have control over it and admitted that during the upgrade somehow Mozilla and Safari browser detection got left out and hopefully it will be fixed in the future. She said she would file a ticket for this and I gave her the URL for this bugzilla (with the bug id) so that their web development people could check it out themself. Hopefully they do that.
