Currently, it is impossible to implement a splash screen in Firebird through use
of an extension. I am requesting the developers make this ability available, so
that extension writers can work on splash screen extensions.
Though I rated this bug "enhancement", it is a loss of function that should have
been available.

<< Why is it impossible? -fullscreen was added by an extension. >>
Because the ability to use extensions most likely requires a fully loaded
browser in the first place. A splash screen is supposed to be a placeholder
while the application loads, not appear afterwards.

We need a CANTFIX resolution.... It would be easier to enable support for
-splash again than to try to rearchitect Firebird just to allow custom startup
options.
FYI, bug 198605 just was marked WONTFIX.
