User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de-AT; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031210 MultiZilla/1.6.0.0e
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; de-AT; rv:1.6b) Gecko/20031210 MultiZilla/1.6.0.0e
Mozilla allows you to move folders into themselves, effectively deleting them
without an obvious way of getting them back.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a folder in the Personal Bookmark Folder
2. right click on it and select "move bookmark"
3. select the folder itself and press OK
Actual Results:
the folder disappears and is obviously deleted
Expected Results:
check and warn - this is a stupid and annoying thing that should not be possible
if a window pops up asking you to "select folder...", it is actually intuitive
to select the folder that you want to move. So, I consider this a dangerous bug
that can lead to data loss.

Tested on Mozilla 1.6 Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.6)
Gecko/20040113 , and the bug *exists*.
Reproducible:
Always
Steps to reproduce:
1. Create a new bookmark folder
2. Move the folder onto itself
3. The folder is deleted
What happens:
The folder is deleted
Expected behavior:
A message saying that a folder cant be moved onto itself, and the move
operation aborts.
I see this also on LInux 2004020207. Also, when you undo the "move" Mozilla crashes.

I just wanted to add a note that this also happenned to me with Mozilla 1.7.12 on Win2K. It's completely reproducible; I also just lost a long list of bookmarks. :-(
In my case, "undo" doesn't crash Mozilla for me (as Jesiah reported). However, "undo" doesn't do anything at all in this case, as far as I can tell.

This has probably been fixed by the move to Places-based bookmarks (SM 2.1 and later). With current trunk, this is WFM: Using Move from the Edit menu (there is no Move in the context menu anymore), selecting the folder itself and pressing OK does nothing.
