It would be interesting to have a more finegrained "New mail notification"
options. In the preferences panel having a use global notification or specific
notification. Specific notification would be enabled in the account or on the
filter.
So that I can get a global notification (each time a receive a mail - default
option )
Or when enabled having more finegrained options so that in the "Mail and
newsgroup accounts settings" panel I can have a per-account notification.
(I wouldn't get a notification when receiving a new mail in my spam account)
or in the "Messages filters..." tools, I could get a filter based notification.
ex: when a mail is filtered as a mail from bugtrak@securityfocus.com I wouldn't
receive a notification but I would receive one when filtered by "teammates" filter.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. N/A
2.
3.
Filter-based new mail notification is already covered by Bug 11040.
Account-based new mail notification settings were referred to in Bug 189289
Comment #83 and Bug 189289 Comment #84, at least, but it looks like no RFE was
submitted at that time.
BTW, Bug 224573 requests folder-based new mail notification settings (but I tend
to agree with Bug 224573 Comment #1).
Patrick, account-based settings are a good idea. Please search bugzilla again to
make sure we haven't missed a previous request and, if all looks clear, change
the summary to just a request for account-based settings.

This is an automated message, with ID "auto-resolve01".
This bug has had no comments for a long time. Statistically, we have found that
bug reports that have not been confirmed by a second user after three months are
highly unlikely to be the source of a fix to the code.
While your input is very important to us, our resources are limited and so we
are asking for your help in focussing our efforts. If you can still reproduce
this problem in the latest version of the product (see below for how to obtain a
copy) or, for feature requests, if it's not present in the latest version and
you still believe we should implement it, please visit the URL of this bug
(given at the top of this mail) and add a comment to that effect, giving more
reproduction information if you have it.
If it is not a problem any longer, you need take no action. If this bug is not
changed in any way in the next two weeks, it will be automatically resolved.
Thank you for your help in this matter.

This is a feature request, not a bug, and it wasn't fullfilled yet.

I guess I can confirm this bug, but will it get fixed?
SeaMonkey Preferences are currently being ported to a different backend. This might -- or might not -- get implemented by the people working on bug 416548 etc.
