reporter, 1) did you see any information in console when mozilla crashed? 2) had you verified the plugin gets installed properly by checking "about:plugins"?

I am also having the same problem. For reference the site that does it to me is goproblems.com. Roughly a third of the time when you hit the View Comments or View Attempt Paths from inside a goproblem Firefox will crash and Mozilla hangs indefinitely. I'm using the latest Firefox build with JRE1.5 but it happens in Mozilla Suite with 1.5 and in Firefox with J2RE1.4.2 as well as JDK1.5 and J2SDK1.4.2 (not that they're different from the RE's but anyways). I've also done the symlink thing, with all versions of Java including (just to see what happens) using the wrong symlink (eg: using the ns7-gcc29, it doesn't work of course). Finally when using the latest nightly I got this plugin_stack.trace java.io.EOFException at java.io.DataInputStream.readByte(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.navig.motif.Plugin.readString(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.navig.motif.Plugin.doit(Unknown Source) at sun.plugin.navig.motif.Plugin.start(Unknown Source) Hope this helps to confirm.

With the latest Firefox: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.1) Gecko/2008070206 Firefox/3.0.1 and: Java(TM) Plug-in 1.5.0_16-b02 on Scientific Linux Fermi (=~Red Hat) I am able to browse the indicated goproblems.com site without incident. I suspect this is thus resolved.
