User-Agent: Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.7a) Gecko/20040118 I don't want the message pane to be visible, but I can't make it stay away. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Open MailNews. The message pane is visible. 2.Select View | Show/Hide | Message Pane. The line in the menu is ticked. 3.The Message Pane remains visible. This is incorrect. 4.Select View | Show/Hide | Message Pane again. (The line is still ticked.) 5.This time the Message Pane hides. This is correct. However... 6.Close and reopen MailNews. The Message Pane is back. The "show/hide" state was not saved. This is incorrect. Expected Results: The show/hide state should be remembered. The apparent reality is that it is remembered, but not reflected in the UI - that's why step 2 fails. Message panes are a pain, pardon the pun. Lacking any apparent ability to switch off HTML previewing, I don't want to see my spam in full colour, so I want the pane to go away.
In fact, you can switch off HTML previewing: View|Message Body As|Plain Text I'm assuming you are using the 'alt' layout for the 3pane window: message pane running all along the bottom, folder pane and thread pane side-by-side above. This would be bug 77447, and I'm marking this as a dupe. If you really want the message pane off *all* the time, just switch to the original 3-pane layout -- the two layouts appear virtually identical without a message pane. If in fact you *already* are using the original 3-pane layout but still seeing this bug, that's a new thing and you should reopen this bug, and say so. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 77447 ***
