Details
User-Agent: Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.6) Gecko/20040207 Firefox/0.8 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Deactivate "Hide tab bar when only one website is open". 2. Open a page, so that exactly one tab is open. 3. Click the tab-bar's "close" button. Actual Results: The tab bar disappears. Expected Results: Firefox terminates. When closing with Ctrl+W, Firefox correctly terminates. It only happens with the close-button. After hitting Ctrl+T, the tab bar re-appears.

hmm, I thought we'd fixed this already. Should be trivial enough to do. Simon, can you find the original (we might have resolved it while we had the pref hidden, its a while back) and assign to me?

oh, this is different, I guess I'd read this differently. behaviour when closing the last tab is "undefined" at best. Personally, I'd rather see the close button hidden with only one tab open, and if you truly want to close the window, you can click an inch higher on the screen. Some clarity on this behaviour and what's expected would be good. Ctrl-W and Ctrl-F4 don't behave the same either.

> behaviour when closing the last tab is "undefined" at best. Most things in Firefox are undefined, because they are not documentated. (Or do I miss anything?) This is why accurate documentation is essentially important. > Personally, I'd rather see the close button hidden with only one tab open, That would be very bad, IMO. Being able to close the current tab, no matter how many tabs are opened, is *very* convenient and intuitive, and works fine with Ctrl+W. > and if you truly want > to close the window, you can click an inch higher on the screen. I do not have any close-button one inch higher, and neither do I want to. > Some clarity on this behaviour and what's expected would be good. ACK.
Personally, when I close the last tab I expect the browser to stay open and the page to be blank, not for the tab bar to just disappear and the page be there after I thought I closed it. That would seem much more intuitive than having it close the entire browser or leaving the page there.

Well, I can at least confirm that this occurs. When making the tabbar always visibile, closing the last tab will just hide the tab bar. Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.7) Gecko/20040615 Firefox/0.9 Moved Component -> Tabbed Browser; OS/Hardware -> All/All
Status: UNCONFIRMED → NEW
Component: Toolbars → Tabbed Browser
Ever confirmed: true
OS: Linux → All
QA Contact: bugzilla → firefox.tabbed-browser
Hardware: PC → All
when you change theme all the tabs what you are using currently you cant use even if you change the theme to default theme. you cant close tabs after you change the theme and go back to the previous one.

Duplicate of 248987 (submitted 8 months after this one), now fixed. (The fix was to blank the existing tab, not to close Firefox as suggested here). *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 248987 ***
