(In reply to comment #1) > Was this a clean app dir and new profile? This was a clean install into a new folder. I did not delete any old profiles before running the installer. I am currently running Firebird 0.7 on my computer. Is there a need to delete old profiles first? The installer does not do this?

Please read the release notes on the firebird product page. The following entry is relevant: "First, if you are running an old version of Firebird or Phoenix, visit the Extensions panel in Tools, Options and disable all of your extensions. If you cannot disable extensions, you must create a new profile before upgrading to Firefox 0.8. If you do not do this, your browser may not work, and you may receive messages like "Cannot create XBL Binding for Browser" or "Cannot create Browser Instance". You must now look for newer versions of your extensions that are described explicitly as being compatible with Firefox 0.8."

I get the same error message for Firefox .8 (XP Home). It was working until I installed a theme (tried to install a theme that is); can't delete profiles: launching profile manager gets same error. Running a clean install results in same error.

In my case I tried to install a theme that was supposed to work with Firefox 0.8+ and the result was this error. There was no installation/deinstallation of anything (in about a week :) --besides the theme-- and while a nightly, solid as a rock while doing all kinds of stuff. Just to let you know.

(In reply to comment #15) > *** Bug 251853 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Ok, So it's a duplicate bug. How do I fix it? Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't resolve the problem. Obviously, Firefox did something to prevent the program from working properly.
